Teens who don't pass their GCSEs in math and English should be offered alternative grades instead of being forced to re-review exams endlessly, according to one of England's largest exam boards. Students who lack GCSEs in English and Math, or two A-levels in grade E, would not qualify for a student loan in England, under the new plans. However, analysis by the University and College Application Service suggests that about 10% of college applicants do not have English and Math passes when they leave school. Students with internships supported with an exemption must continue to study mathematics and English at an appropriate level, even when they are unable to work towards a stepped or GCSE qualification.
